On the 28th of May 2019, the second edition of the OSIsoft & AG Solution congress “Life sciences 4.0 – Recipes for the factory of the future” was held in Madrid, in the Net-Pharma building. AG Solution is one of the 16 member companies of Net-Pharma, the first pharmaceutical hub in Spain.

OSIsoft and AG Solution (Petter Moree, Paula Baquer, Sergio Hernandez and Marc Olivé Torralba) presented the current reality of the sector and how the trend of the future 4.0 immediately benefits end users.

They presented a set of practical and scalable business cases such as the OEE analysis, the real-time control of process variables or Golden Batch, the intelligent management of alarms and the energy management of the consumption of plants and facilities; solutions with the clear intention of improving production processes.

End customers such as Grupo Ferrer, represented by Josep Salaet (Operations Director) and Abbott Laboratories, represented by Julio López (Process monitoring & controller) explained how they have implemented the PI System data infrastructure together with the solutions developed by AG Solution. This has allowed them to capture and democratize the data to ensure compliance with the Data Integrity demanded by the FDA, and also transform that data into valuable information.

At the end of the morning there was an interactive round table, consisting of Josep Salaet (Grupo Ferrer), Julio López (Abbott) and Manel Domínguez (Global Operations Development Manager of Danone). The members of this panel, having a long history in the digital transformation and a crucial responsibility in the 4.0 strategies of their organizations, answered relevant questions from the audience.
This debate framework allowed to solve doubts and reluctance to change, as well as to point out the necessary cooperation role between IT and OT departments so that this kind of projects and initiatives can prosper.
