Due to the success of the last projects in which we have worked together, in addition to the wide experience of our team, AG Solution has been selected by a customer of the pharmaceutical industry in Spain to implement SIMATIC PCS neo.

SIMATIC PCS Neo is the latest version of the well-known process control system from the German multinational Siemens. This new version promises safer and faster system access, intuitive usability, and maximum scalability from small modular processes to global-scale plants.

This is the first SIMATIC PCS neo project managed by an integrator in Spain, as well as one of the first projects to be implemented in a pharma industry development plant for this technology in the world.

"The implementation of the PCS Neo control software will allow us to get to know the system first hand," says Juan Palma, Regional Process Automation Leader at AG Solution Group. "That gives us a huge advantage since we will be one of the first integrators in the world to be trained and have experience with the new Siemens control system," he adds.

Collaboration, operation, and security on the web

According to Julio García Pérez, business manager for Process Control and Safety at Siemens Spain, SIMATIC PCS neo marks the generation of control systems of the future. In addition, it responds to requirements such as "usability, collaboration, engineering integration, data analytics, modularity, hyperconnectivity while maintaining standards of robustness, reliability, security and life cycle".

Among the most notable features of SIMATIC PCS Neo are:

  • Web-based: It can be used on any desktop or laptop device that can read HTML5. You only need a web browser and meet certain security requirements to access the control system. No local software installation is required.
  • Open architecture: Modular engineering supports the new Module Type Packages (MTP) standard. Thanks to maximum reuse of engineering codes, system scalability is guaranteed for small plants, up to the largest plants in the world.
  • Global collaboration: Access to current data even when working simultaneously. This is thanks to consistent, object-oriented data management with central storage, which ensures that data is always available and without contradictions.
  • Comprehensive cybersecurity: With strict adherence to the "Security by Design" principle, each component of a system is equipped with its security features, both in hardware and software. Encrypted communication is based on certificates following the Siemens Defense in Depth concept, which follows the recommendations of IEC 62443.

The project started a few weeks ago and is expected to be finished in the coming months. It will give AG Solution the knowledge and experience to be the ideal partner in the implementation of PCS neo in Spain and Europe.
